Her Door Might Be Automatic, But Yours Might Need A Push

There are two types of doors in Target: automatic doors and doors you have to push or pull.As I was leaving Target a few days ago (you know, after buying all the things I DIDN'T need), I saw the girl beside me walk through an automatic door, and as I started to walk through mine, it didn't move. I stared at it for a second like it was broken before I realized it was a push/pull door - not automatic.I walked through it, and outside, laughing at myself. The automatic door girl saw the whole thing and we laughed together. I said, "Just pretend you didn't see that," to which she replied, "Don't worry, I've done that plenty of times."After we parted ways, still laughing at my little moment, I started thinking about how I just expected my door to be automatic just because the girl beside me walked through one. And isn't that life? There are two types of doors in life: automatic doors and doors you have to push or pull. We see the girl beside walk right through an automatic door with little to no effort and expect to do the same. But the door in front of us might just require a little more work on our end.And we also have no idea what she walked through before she stepped through that door. Just because the door opened easily doesn't mean her steps leading up to it were easy.We tend to get frustrated when we have to force a door open. Sometimes we pull when it needs a push and visa-versa. The key is to read the sign to know exactly what to do. And in order to read the sign, we have to get close to the One who wrote it.God is not going to lead you to a door you aren't ready for. He knows when you need the ease of an automatic door and He knows when you're ready to push through. And life is a mix of all kinds of doors, so don't let the one in front of you right now stop you from the next one.And don't walk away from your door just to walk behind the girl who just went through the automatic door. You aren't on the same journey as her. You need to walk through the door God has for you in order to live out your own story. Besides, all His doors are leading to the same place anyway - He just wants you to have a little fun and a lot of trust on the way. For His glory,Kaitlin
