stop trying to disqualify yourself...

Ever feel disqualified? Yeah, me too.

I don’t know enough about The Bible.
I’m not always a great wife.
I have a long way to go with my mental and physical health.
Other women lead better than me.
I struggle to keep my time with God consistent.
I sometimes use words I shouldn’t.

I could go on about the reasons why I shouldn’t tell women about Jesus or preach life-giving messages or write books. I see other women absolutely killing it in all those areas and wonder if there’s even a point in me stepping into the arena.

And then I remember how Moses argued that he wasn’t good enough for God to use and God’s rebuttal was, “Bro, you’re not the one speaking and teaching. I made your mouth, and I’ll use it. Chill out.” (My paraphrase, obviously.)

I can totally relate to Moses. I want to just ask God to use someone else, but it’s not really about what I want.

That list of struggles I wrote out? I need to actively work on all of them, and I am very aware of that, but none of those disqualify me from how God has called me. Like a friend reminded me, He doesn’t call the qualified; He qualifies the called.

The women you see teaching like bosses, momming so hard, and leading so well have gifts from God — that doesn’t mean you don’t.

We’re given different gifts to make up the one big grand prize that is the body of Christ. He did it that way on purpose so that no one feels OVERqualified. We need each other to carry out The Great Commission, but we mostly need God.

Jesus picked some pretty average, uneducated guys to stick by his side, so having it all together doesn’t seem to be a prerequisite for following Jesus.

Let’s work on our areas of weakness. Let’s study His Word on a deeper level and learn more about Him.

But let’s not allow the enemy to use our weakness to convince us we aren’t called.

We are all called to impact the world around us on His behalf, so let’s cut the excuses and get after it for God, cool?
